HASSAN, DEC. 16. Students of the Diploma in Education (D.Ed) students took out a procession in the city on Thursday demanding the withdrawal of six months internship that is mandatory and urged the Government to fill the vacancies of primary school teachers. The students, led by Umesh and Shivaprakash, submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner in this regard.
Demands
Our Shimoga Special Correspondent reports: Students of the D.Ed. course staged a demonstration here on Thursday in support of their demands. The protest was organised by the All India Democratic Youth Organisation and the D.Ed. Students' Action Committee. The main demands of the students include abolition of the six-month internship and recruitment to the posts of teachers in primary schools. They submitted a memorandum to the Government through the district administration. In the memorandum, the students said that after the two-year TCH course had been converted into D.Ed., the duration of the course increased by six months owing to the internship.
