Pondicherry

PONDICHERRY, DEC. 16. State Government employees will launch a series of protests starting January to protest the "inaction" of the administration in settling their demands. This will be followed by a strike in February, P. Latchoumanasamy, general secretary of the Federation of Associations of Employees of State Government, said at a press conference here today. The "failure" of the Government to create new posts had "reduced" job opportunities for the youth. The shortage of staff in most departments had added to the workload of the existing employees. Mr. Latchoumanasamy said that group `C' and `D' staff were "virtually up in arms against the sluggish style" of functioning of the Government in conceding their demands.
