Portfolios of new Ministers announced

BANGALORE, DEC. 16. The Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) today finalised the portfolios of the Ministers from the two parties. Contrary to reports that it would take a few days, they were able to decide on the portfolios a day after the expansion of the Ministry on Wednesday.

Sources in the Congress and the Janata Dal (S) told The Hindu here tonight that under the power-sharing arrangement between the two coalition partners, the Janata Dal (S) was given the portfolios earmarked for it, and the party leadership finalised the allocation of departments. The Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, finalised the portfolios of the Ministers from the Congress. The list of Ministers and their portfolios has been sent to the Raj Bhavan and a formal notification is awaited.
