SI suspended in Dalit's murder case

By Our Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR, DEC. 16. The Deputy Inspector General of Police of Anantapur Range, N. Jayarami Reddy, suspended the Sub-Inspector of Amadaguru, A. Sebastian, on Thursday on the charge of negligence of duties in the murder case of MRPS-Dandora leader, Boru Gangulappa.

The Superintendent of Police, R.S. Praveen Kumar, recommended the suspension of the SI yesterday after visiting Dudaraguttapalli village of the mandal, where Gangulappa was hacked to death allegedly by his upper caste opponents led by the sarpanch of Lokojupalli, Siva Reddy. A police picket was set up in Dudaraguttapalli-Lokojupalli villages to prevent any untoward incident as fallout of Gangulappa's murder. Meanwhile, the police were learnt to have taken into custody the cleaner of the jeep, which was used by the assailants to attack Gangulappa.

The jeep, its driver and nine accused in the murder case are yet to be traced by the police.
