KURNOOL, DEC. 16. The Hospital Development Society (HDS) of the Kurnool General Hospital on Thursday proposed to tap resources from the Zilla Parishad, the Exhibition Society, the Shirdi Saibaba Trust and other philanthropists for creating core infrastructure in the hospital. A meeting of the society held here was chaired by the district Collector and chairman of the society, Vikas Raj. The ZP Chairman, B. Venkatramudu, and the superintendent, H. Hanumantharayudu, were present. Mr. Venkatramudu acknowledged the need for lending support from the Zilla Parishad for developing local hospital. K. Chandrasekhara Kalkura, a member, said the Kurnool Exhibition Society, which was undertaking philanthropic activities, would lend help to the hospital.
4.77 lakhs sanctioned
The committee felt that computerisation of the activities of the hospital would streamline the work. The committee proposed to make an inventory of all equipment and their fitness. The hospital authorities explained that the Government had sanctioned Rs 4.77 lakhs to compensate for the loss caused by waiver of user charges. The hospital could draw the amount from the treasury account. In addition to it, Rs 40 lakhs was available under the maintenance grant and Rs 13 lakhs under the State Illness Fund. The committee approved the proposal to renew the services of contract sanitation staff, technicians and other staff. Also, repairs to cobalt unit, maintenance of CT Scan and purchase of equipment for operation theatres were approved. The meeting put off the decision on renewing the contract of telephone booths with 10 per cent hike and enhancing the price of diet and advised the authorities to adopt the tender system.
