VISAKHAPATNAM, DEC. 16. Allround display by D. Murali and Satyanarayana Murthy's hat-trick helped Champions C.C. edge out Peda Gantyada C.C. by eight runs in a pre-quarterfinals match of the 19th D. Sekhar Rao memorial cricket tournament here on Thursday. Lakshman turned out an all-round show in host Hindustan Shipyard R.C.'s three-wicket win over Nauka C.C.
Champions C.C. 172 for seven in 30 overs (D. Murali 65, Lakshman Kumar 50) bt Peda Gantyada C.C. 164 in 28 overs (M. Sominaidu 34 n.o., Satyanarayana Murthy four for 36, incl. a hat-trick, D. Murali four for 26).
Nauka C.C. 151 in 30 overs (Sreenivas 71, Lakshman three for 20) lost to H.S.R.C. 154 for seven in 22.3 overs (Lakshman 41 n.o.).
Robin C.C. 133 for nine in 27.1 overs (Seetharam 63, Srikanth three for 19) lost to Vizag Veterans 135 for four in 19.3 overs.
Jai Andhra C.C. 141 for six in 25 overs (K. Kishore 41) lost to Greenland C.C. 145 for seven in 24.3 overs (G. Yesuratnam 58).
