TIRUPATI, DEC. 16. The former Tirupati MLA, Chadalavada Krishnamurthy, quit the Telugu Desam Party today joining issue with the party supremo, N. Chandrababu Naidu, over not being re-nominated to the seat in the recent elections. Addressing a press conference after faxing his resignation letter to Mr. Naidu, Mr. Chadalavada said it still baffled him as to why he was not given the party ticket though he was also a victim of the Alipiri blast. "In fact it was on the naxal issue that Naidu went for an early poll and as such it still beats me why he ditched me and favoured my nephew, N.V. Prasad, for the party ticket creating a rift in our family," said Mr. Chadalavada. He said he was quitting the party unable to bear the `mental trauma' that Mr. Naidu had caused him with his `political conspiracy.'
No surprise
Mr. Chadalavada's resignation did not come as a surprise to the TDP given his political track record. It was under almost similar conditions that he switched over to the TDP from the Congress when he lost the 1994 Assembly elections from Srikalahasti seat. Though he has not yet announced his re-entry into Congress, there are enough indications that it is only a matter of time before he does.
