THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEC. 16 . The Public Works Minister, M.K. Muneer, today announced a fresh proposal for constructing a flyover over the National Highway at Pattom Junction. Presiding over a function organised in connection with laying of foundation stone for the proposed underpass and flyover at Palayam, he said the new flyover will be taken up as a separate project to ease traffic congestion in the Pattom area. The Minister said the City Roads Improvement Scheme covering 42 km will have a visible impact in six to seven months. The construction of the underpass is scheduled to be completed in six months. Dr. Muneer said the roads identified for development under the project will be provided with footpaths, segregated bus bays, road signages and utility ducts to accommodate cables and pipelines. Earlier, laying foundation for the underpass, the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, stressed the need for time-bound completion of the road development project.
