Big win for Manipur

DINDIGUL, DEC. 17. Defending champion, Manipur, enhanced its chances of entering the semifinals of the second junior National girls under-17 football championship by posting a big 15-0 victory over Jharkhand for its second win in the four-team Pool I quarterfinal league at the Dindigul District Stadium here on Friday.

In another match in the same pool, last year's runner-up Orissa scored a solitary goal victory over Haryana for its first win. In a Pool II match, Tripura and Uttar Pradesh were involved in a goalless draw.

The results: Pool I: quarterfinal league: Manipur 15 (N.G. Bala Devi 4, Parameshwori Devi 3, Lalavar Moihmar 3, Romadevi 2, Rajita Devi, A. Romi Devi, Naobi Devi) bt Jharkhand 0. Orissa 1 (Sasmita Malik) bt Haryana 0.

Pool II: Tripura 0 drew with Uttar Pradesh 0.
