ANANTAPUR, DEC. 17. The State Government has proposed to take up 70 minor irrigation works in Anantapur district during the current and coming financial years at an estimated cost of Rs. 9.5 crores. According to an official communiqué issued here on Friday the proposed works will create irrigation potential for about 1,579 acres and will also stabilise 1,750 acres of the existing ayacut under the minor irrigation sources. The Minister for Minor Irrigation, A. Chandrasekhar, conducted a review meeting with the district MLAs -- B. Narayana Reddy, P. Keshav, S. Sailajanath, G. Jayalaxmi, J. Ramaiah, N. Neelavathi and K. Mohan Reddy -- and the officials of Irrigation Department and Anantapur district in the committee hall on the Assembly premises on Thursday. The Minister also reviewed the status of Rajiv Palle Bata programme and representations pertaining to the department.
