Delhi team triumphs

VISAKHAPATNAM, DEC. 17. Delhi's pair of Kiran Nadar and B. Satyanarayana won the Open Pairs event and clinched the Holkar Trophy on the concluding day of the 46th Winter National Bridge Championships.

With a score of 593.5 MPs., the pair was in lead right from the start to win in the 32-pair field. Hyderabad's Ch. Koteswara Rao-K. Suryanarayana scored 534 MPs and finished second. The Hyderabad pair pipped the Chennai-Mumbai combination of K.R. Venkataraman-Sunit Chokshi which aggregated 528.5 MPs.

Earlier, Railways `A', the Ruia Trophy champion, represented by Manas Mukherjee, Pritish Kushari, Rana Roy, A.N. Benerjee, Sumit Mukherjee and Hasibul Hasan won a double crown when it became the Board-a-Match Champion registering the highest score of 194 points. Railways which began with a poor score of 38 points scored 73 and 75 points in the last two sessions to win the event.

Tolani Shipping (Mumbai) ended runner-up with 192 points. The next two teams were Railways `B' with 188 points and Formidables (Delhi) with 186 points.
