Somasekhara panel talks tough

HYDERABAD,
DEC.17.
The B.K. Somasekhara Commission of Inquiry, which is looking into the Yeleru land scam, today firmly told two senior IAS officials and a former Chief Secretary to the State Government that they must come prepared to be examined next time.
The Judge was reacting to Pradeep Kumar Agarwal, Agricultural Marketing Adviser, Government of India, K. Diwan, Special Chief Secretary (Housing), State Government, and V. Ananda Rau, a former Chief Secretary, seeking time.
All three IAS officials were summoned by the Commission under Section 8 of the Commission of Enquiries Act. They had sought time. The next sitting of the Commission is likely to be held in Visakhapatnam in the third week of January, it is learnt.
