NEW DELHI, DEC. 17. Mohammed Rashid's all-round performance (four for 24 and 43) helped Aligarh Muslim University beat Lucknow University by six wickets and made it to the quarterfinals of the North Zone inter-university cricket tournament at the DAV College ground here.

The scores (pre-quarterfinals): Lucknow 135 in 34.2 overs (Pradeep 51, Masihuddin five for 33, Rashid four for 24) lost to Aligarh Muslim 139 for four in 26.4 overs (Rashid 43).

Kurukshetra 188 for nine in 40 overs (Abhimanyu 45) lost to Chaudhary Devi Lal192 for three in 27.5 overs (Sumit Sharma 117 not out).

Jamia Millia 188 for seven in 40 overs (Manoj 59, Imran 44 not out) bt Shimla 139 in 37.2 overs (Ajay 48).

GNDU 187 for nine in 40 overs (Randeep Gill 55) lost to MDU Rohtak, 188 for seven in 39.2 overs (Sangwan 49 not out, Rathi 44, Amit Kumar 40).
