`Best security to cricket team'

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, DEC. 17. The Union Minister of State for External Affairs, E. Ahamad, today told the Lok Sabha that the Bangladesh Government, while doubting the authenticity of the threat against the touring Indian cricket team, had assured India "clearly, unambiguously and emphatically" that the best and highest security would be ensured for the contingent through its stay in the country.

Replying to a short notice question on the threat to the Indian cricket team in Bangladesh, Mr. Ahamad said not only did the Bangladesh Government allow an Indian security team to visit the sites to make an on-the-spot assessment of the situation in Dhaka and Chittagong, it also accepted all the recommendations made by India for strengthening the security arrangements.
