TAMBARAM, DEC. 17. Chengai East police today arrested three persons on charges of cheating by offering loans at low interest. Police said the three A. Saravanan (40), his wife, S. Rajathi, (34) and R. Perumal (55) were part of a network. Shankar Nagar police, who arrested them, said the group advertised in newspapers offering to arrange immediate loans at low interest rates. Assuring clients that the loans would be arranged in two days, they collected Rs. 500 to Rs. 2,000 as advance. Clients who did not agree to the terms, were persuaded to pay about Rs. 200 as conveyance expenses for the house calls made.
