Curbs on entry of heavy vehicles

VIJAYAWADA, DEC.17. The loading and unloading of heavy goods vehicles having a capacity of more than five tonnes will not be allowed in the city limits from New Year's Eve (December 31 midnight).

The outer limits of the city have been notified by 21 entry points in the jurisdiction of One Town, Two Town, Governorpet, Suryaraopet, Satyanarayanapuram, Krishna Lanka and Machavaram Law and Order police stations.

Exemption

Heavy vehicles transporting essential commodities, perishables, medicines are exempted round-the- clock, subject to being granted prior permission. Lorries transporting construction material would be allowed only during lean hours (noon to 4 p.m. & 10 p.m. to 12 midnight). Vehicles carrying household goods, petroleum products and cooking gas would be allowed into the city for loading and unloading only during lean hours.

Loaded trucks would not be allowed beyond Ashoka pillar, Potti Sriramulu Statue, Seethammavaripadalu, Sithara theatre, Nainavaram Cross Road, Chittinagar, Foreman Bungalow, Krishna Lanka Police Station, Bandar Locks (on NH-9), Krishna Lanka Fire Station, Netaji Bridge, Dabakotla Centre in Ajitsinghnagar, Frazerpet overbridge, Three Bridges Centre in Gunadala, Ramavarappadu Ring, Mahanadu Cross Roads, Executive Club junction, Stella College (no. Five Route), Nirmala Convent Junction, Benz Circle and Pakeergudem junction form a circle will form the outer perimeters of the area into which loaded lorries would be allowed. Entry beyond these points would be restricted with barricades and traffic police.

The movement of loaded vehicles would be allowed only on the National Highway via Gollapudi, Kummaripalem, Durga Ghat, Prakasam Barrage, Sitammavaripadalu temple, Kanakadurgamma Vaaradhi junction, Benz circle and Nidamanuru.

Loaded trucks going towards Nuzvid would be allowed only through the Gollapudi bypass, Sitara theatre Centre, Nainavaram cross roads, railway gates, Y.V.Rao estates and Payakapuram.

Parking of vehicles would not be allowed on any of the feeder roads between Seethammavaaripadalu and Ramavarappadu.

Loaded mini goods vans (short body) would be allowed into the city only during the lean hours for loading and unloading. Mini vans with long chassis having six wheels would not be allowed.

The press release said that no loading or unloading would be allowed on Canal Road from Ashoka pillar to Kaleswara Rao Market at any time of the day.
