CHITRADURGA, DEC. 18. Sri Shivakumar Kalasangha of Sanehalli and Chitradurga District Working Journalists' Union have decided to organise a series of programmes, including a competition for dramas produced and enacted by villagers, as a part of the "Revival of Rural Theatre" project. A one-day workshop for harmonium and tabla masters, who are also drama teachers in rural areas, has been organised at Sanehalli on January 1.
Competitions
Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday, Sri Panditaradhya Shivacharya Swamiji, seer of Sanehalli Sri Mutt, said that three villages each, which showed interest in producing a drama, from the six taluks in the district would be selected and provided a harmonium or tabla master, who would help the villagers produce a drama. Out of the 18 dramas produced, six would be invited for the district-level competitions, he said. The programme has been organised in continuation of the seminar that was organised by the Working Journalists' Union recently. Interested harmonium and tabla masters can send in their nominations stating their experience and present occupation. The swamiji also said that a special ballet based on the poetry of Kuvempu and his play "Beralge Koral" has been organised on December 31.
