Three killed in road accidents

HASSAN, DEC. 19. Three persons were killed and 15 persons were injured in two separate accidents in Channarayapatna town on Saturday night.

The driver of a sand-laden lorry, whose identity is yet to be established, and Kumar (26) of Mandalikanahalli in K.R. Pet taluk, driver of a sugarcane lorry, were killed on the spot.

The sand-laden lorry going to Bangalore collided with the sugarcane lorry near Tirumala Choultry on the Channarayapatna-Mysore State Highway. Around 14 people were injured in the accident and 10 of them were shifted to Bangalore for further treatment, the police said.

In another incident, D.H. Krishna Murthy (36) of Goudigere village of Hassan taluk was killed when the car in which he was travelling collided with an oil tanker near Hemavathi canal on the outskirts of Channarayapatna town. Srinivas, driver of the car, was seriously injured, the police said.

The Channarayapatna Town Police have registered two separate cases.
