ANANTAPUR, DEC. 19. The excise police of the district today seized 6,900 Karnataka arrack sachets smuggled into the district in a car near Rayadurg. One person was arrested in this regard. According to the information reaching here, an excise team led by the CI, S.A. Jabbar, found 6,900 sachets of illicit brew packed in 29 polythene bags during a vehicle check. The brew was worth Rs. 3 lakhs. The car driver in which the brew was being smuggled, Balachandrudu, told the excise police that it was being taken to one Boya Venkateshu at Kalyanadurg. The car and illicit brew were confiscated by the excise sleuths who also arrested the vehicle driver. They also booked a case against Venkateshu, Nagaraju, Thippeswamy and Basavaraju in this regard.
