Electric loco repair shed for Nandalur

CUDDAPAH, DEC. 19. An electric rail engine repairing trip shed will be established near Nandalur railway station, according to the Guntakal Divisional Railway Manager, Carmelus.

Mr. Carmelus and his wife, Eusobian, inaugurated an auditorium, Rail Kala Vedika, tennis and shuttle badminton courts constructed at a cost of Rs. 15 lakhs near Nandalur station on Saturday evening.

An electric rail engine repair centre functioned at Renigunta and the stipulation to maintain a distance of at least 300 km to 400 km between two trip sheds came in the way of setting up a permanent trip shed, he stated.

The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and the General Manager of South Central Railways, Stanley Babu, would inaugurate the modernised Cuddapah railway station on December 26, the DRM said. They would be apprised to explore the scope for a permanent trip shed at Nandalur, he added. A second railway platform would be built at Nandalur as part of the ongoing doubling works.

Artistes of Guntakal Railway Raga Ranjani presented a musical nite. The SCR officials, Kishore Babu, Goutham Srinivas, Yellaiah, Raghavan and Mazdoor Union representatives participated.
