NEW DELHI, DEC. 19. A mobile phone was allegedly stolen from the official residence of a Rajya Sabha Congress MP at South Avenue here early on Sunday. The culprit allegedly tried to break into the houses of three more parliamentarians. One person has been detained for questioning in this connection. The incident apparently occurred around 3 a.m. on Sunday. Enquiries revealed that the burglar first entered E.M.S. Natchiappan's house through a window after removing the pane. He stole a mobile phone and then tried to break into the houses of MPs D.N. Sharma, Dinesh Trivedi and Vijay Shankar. Later, the police detained an unemployed person from Orissa who earlier lived in the house of one of the parliamentarians . Meanwhile, the police have found out that several occupants of South Avenue had rented out their garages and "barsatis," owing to which unknown people gain easy entry into the area. It is learnt that the police had earlier raised the issue during the housing committee meetings, but to no avail.
