Syed Eathasham shines; Vijaykumar takes overall title

By Our Special Correspondent

BANGALORE, DEC. 19. Team Yamaha's Syed Eathasham took the day's honours in the final leg of the Motocross held at the Palace ground, bagging both the motos to be adjudged `Best Rider of the Day.'

Team TVS's C. Vijaykumar, with his second place finish in the first moto, sealed the overall champion's title by a huge margin of points.

Eathasham spurted into the lead after the second lap and from that point onwards was in command of the race. Vijaykumar, whose main focus was to finish the race and take the overall title, was content to stay in second position.

In the second moto too, Eathasham overtook Vijaykumar on one of the jumps. The latter soon surrendered his second spot and even as T.K. Vishwanath looked like taking the second spot, Yogesh Barguje made a spirited move to streak past and clinched the runner-up position.

Talented and upcoming rider Karan Kadam had a fall and sustained a fracture putting him out of action for the next three months at least.
