Alappuzha

ALAPPUZHA, DEC. 19. The Alappuzha beach festival being organised by the district administration would be held at the beach from December 28 to 31, according to a press release. The festival will begin with a cultural rally. The Minister for Tourism, K.C. Venugopal will inaugurate the festival. D. Sugathan, MLA, will preside over the programme. The inaugural function will be followed by a dance recital by actor Shobana and her troupe at 6.30 p.m. This will be followed by a `Ganamela' by playback singer Jayachandran. A painting competition will be held on December 29. This will be followed by a motorcycle race. The main events in the evening comprise a Jugalbandhi performance and ganamela by playback singer Vidhu Pratap. A drama will also be staged on December 30. On December 31, a tug-of-war competition will be conducted in the morning. The Minister for Culture, A.P. Anil Kumar, will inaugurate the valedictory function and T.M. Thomas Issac, MLA, will preside over it. C.S. Sujata, MP, will deliver the keynote address. A pyrotechnic programme will be held at midnight.
