NAGERCOIL, DEC.19. The police arrested five persons here on Saturday and recovered gold ornaments and household articles worth Rs. 8 lakhs from them. A special police team was formed on the instructions of the Superintendent of police, Ramasubramani, to nab burglars who broke open a number of houses, lifted gold ornaments and household articles. The team arrested Dinesh of Nagercoil and his associates Ganesan, Nambirajan, Kennedy and Manikandan, and recovered 162 sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs. 45,000 in cash. During interrogation, the robbers confessed to the crimes.
