By Our Staff Reporter

KARIMNAGAR, DEC 19. Majority of the family members of the martyrs of the naxalite movement in the district have favoured continuation of peace talks with naxalites for a long-term solution to the Left-wing extremism in the State.

About 100 family members of the naxalite martyrs from various parts of the district have visited Karimnagar town to participate in the first `Amaraveerula bandhu-mitra sangham' (Martyrs friends and relatives association) district level meeting here on Sunday.

Naxalite martyrs families have come from far-flung interior villages of the district from the rank of dalam member to the north Telangana special zone committee and central committee of the Maoists group.

Violence opposed

Interacting with newsmen, the parents of the slained naxalites have vehemently opposed violence being unleased by both naxalites and the police.

"We want peace and not violence. Already we have lost our children and we does not want a repeat of such violence," they pointed out.

Seelam Pruthvidhar, the father of slain naxalite leader, Seelam Naresh, said that: "We are mourning ever since my son joined the naxals fold some 18 years ago and died in an encounter at Koyyur in the year 1999."

The Amaraveerula bandhu-mitra sangham State convenor, Krishna, said that they were constituting the district level committies with the martyrs families to give moral support and protect them from police harassment.

Five panels formed

He said that so far they had constituted committees in Kurnool, Anantapur, Warangal and Hyderabad and Karimnagar was the fifth one.

He said that the committee was also examining provision of health care to the aged parents and education to the slain naxalites' children in a phased manner. The CPI(Maoist) emissary, Varavara Rao, also attended the meeting. A slain naxalite leader, Seelam Naresh's father, Pruvidhar, has been nominated president and the Anupuram Kumuraiah's wife, Susheela, the secretary of the district martyrs bandhu-mitra sangham.
