BANGALORE, DEC. 19. Rasul Khan, director of K.K. Plastics, has urged pourakarmikas to insist that housekeepers separate plastic waste from the rest of the garbage and sell it to the company for use in road construction. He was speaking at an interactive session on waste management organised by the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike in association with his company for pourakarmikas of Jayanagar. The session was to inform people about the new venture of the civic body to utilise plastic waste in road construction. The meet also highlighted the need to segregate plastic from biodegradable waste on a day-to-day basis. Mr. Khan said his company will pay the workers Rs. 6 for a kg of plastic waste. Considering the success of a pilot project on the use of plastic waste in road construction, the project has been duplicated by the company along with the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike.
