MADURAI, DEC.19. Prisoners should shed vengeance and hatred to achieve great heights in life, Justice M. Karpagavinayagam of the Madras High Court today said. Addressing the inmates of the Madurai Central Prison during a `prison adalat' here, the Judge said, "Don't consider anybody as your enemy and the best way to take vengeance against those who had harmed you will be to lead a successful and peaceful life in their presence." Pointing out that the prisoners possessed immense energy and power with which they could reform the rest of the society, the Judge asked, "Should all this energy be wasted in swirling a sword and producing narcotic substances?" He narrated the incidents in the life of Bernard Shaw and Abraham Lincoln and insisted that the prisoners win hearts and not enemies. The Judge distributed copies of `The Story of My Experiments With Truth' to the prisoners and believed that the book would change them into socially conscious citizens. The Principal District and Sessions Judge for Madurai, Arumuga Perumal Adityan, and members of the sub-ordinate judiciary were present.
