Cricket rivalry claims youth's life

BANGALORE, DEC. 19. The Vidyaranyapura Police have arrested five persons in connection with the murder of Santosh (21) of L.N. Colony, Yeshwanthpur, reported a week ago following a cricket match.

It is said the accused, all members of a losing team in the match, allegedly assaulted Naveen (21) of Chamundeshwari Layout, Ahok (21) of Tindlu, and Santosh from the winning team, with rods and stumps on December 12. Santosh died at M.S. Ramaiah Hospital on Thursday.

The police have arrested Mathew (19), Penchalaiah (19), Prasad (21), all of Doddabommasandra, Dilip (21) of Laggere and Venkatesh Prasad (21) of Kammagondanahalli.

Another accused is said to be at large.

Arrested for burglary

The Hebbal police arrested three persons, who allegedly burgled a factory on Bellary Road, about six weeks ago. They had allegedly taken away factory equipment estimated at Rs. 1.5 lakhs.

The police identified them as Muniraju (30), Rajashekar (40) and Ramanna (42), all of Hebbal-Kempapur.
