Inaugurate station

Sir, — The necklace-road railway station on the Lingampally-Hyderabad section of the Multi Modal Transport System (MMTS), which was completed several months ago, is lying idle awaiting inauguration.

There are a number of offices and residential colonies in the vicinity of this station and if it is operative, a large number of people can make use of it. Besides, the visitors to the Peoples' Plaza, Lumbini Gardens also can travel in comfort.

I hope the authorities concerned will look into the matter and inaugurate the station soon.

Tax at eSeva

Sir, — The demand notices for property tax 2004-05, sent by the L.B. Nagar Municipality for 2004-2005, mentioned the tax would be accepted by the bill collector or at the office counter or eSeva centre. When I approached the eSeva centre at Vanasthalipuram, I was told there was no provision to make payment at the centre and tax should be paid at the Municipal Office.

When the tax was accepted at eSeva centres last year, I am at a loss to understand why it cannot be accepted this year too. I request the authorities concerned to look into the problem immediately.

Deadly crossroads

Sir, — I am a resident of street no. 7, Himayatnagar. The intersection of street no. 7 and the road running parallel to Himayatnagar main road (passing through street no. 6,7 and 8) has become a motorist's nightmare. Speeding motorists come from all four directions. Collisions are common even after midnight.

I request the concerned authorities to lay speed breakers in the areas.

Testing time

Sir,— I am a IInd year Intermediate student and had opted for Modern English. The prose and poetry textbook published by the Telugu Academy and the non-detailed text, Julius Caesar, were released only last month. The public exams are fast approaching and it is not feasible for any college to complete the syllabus within time. We are in a fix trying to cope with the problem.

No `level' crossing

Sir, — The area between rails at the AOC level crossing has to be on the same level as the rails to allow smooth flow of vehicles. As the space between rails is lower than the rails, it causes inconvenience to vehicles and is also likely to cause small jolts to the rails disturbing their alignment.

Besides, the two speed breakers near the Safilguda railway station level crossing gate, on either side, are so steep they hit the bottom of cars. The height of these speed-breakers needs to be lowered.

Metro burden

Sir, — All the city bus services on Kukatpally-Uppal route (No. 113 K) are metroliners. This only increases the burden on commuters.

Besides, there is no difference between ordinary buses and metroliners except for fare. The metroliner stops in all stations and passengers have to stand. I suggest standing on metro services be banned and more metro liner buses introduced.

Cap garbage dump

Sir, — Residents of Sahara township and other colonies on either side of Kamineni Hospital Road-Sushma Theatre road are facing the problem of toxic fumes emanating from Autonagar dumping yard, since the plan of shifting the yard and capping the place scientifically have not materialised. There is urgent need to implement the decision taken in the high-level meeting of the Municipal administration to cap the Autonagar dumping yard in view of the health hazards it poses and pollution of water sources.

Relax helmet rule

Sir, — Wearing helmet was recently made compulsory. There is no second opinion as to safety of drivers being the motive of the move.

Though it is laudable, the hurdles faced by aged two-wheeler drivers have to be considered and senior citizens exempted, as they rarely drive two-wheelers and never resort to erratic driving. They are forced to carry the helmet in the hand when not driving.
