THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEC. 19. Six persons were injured in different accidents in the district on Sunday. Two persons were injured when the van in which they travelling overturned near the Karyavattom University campus. The seriously injured person was identified as Prasanna Kumar (53) of Kumarapuram. Four persons were injured, none seriously, at Pathankallu in Nedumangad when a jeep collided with an autorickshaw at around 3.30 p.m.
Impersonation
The Poojappura police have arrested a 22-year-old youth on the charge of fake representation of a candidate at the army recruitment drive here on Sunday. The police said Jalbi Cletus had appeared for the physical endurance test on behalf of one Shinu C. Joseph. He was arrested and later given bail. Shinu of Pathanamthitta is the second accused in the case.
Rape case
The police have registered a case of rape against a 24-year-old youth on the basis of a complaint filed by a 27-year-old housewife at Vilappilsala. An official said the woman had accused the youth, a distant relative, of raping her. The police said the woman had employed the youth for tapping rubber. The victim is the mother of two children. Efforts are on to arrest the accused.
