Drop in humidity

The Gannavaram airport recorded a maximum temperature of 31.0 degree Celsius and a minimum of 16.5 degree Celsius, on Sunday. Humidity dropped from 82 per cent in the morning to 47 per cent in the evening.

Andhra Bank gesture

A team of officials from Andhra Bank, led by its Executive Director, R. Balakrishna, visited the home for the aged at Kanuru, run by members of Senior Citizens' Forum. Mr. Balakrishna complimented the forum members for their commendable services and announced an assistance of Rs. 5 lakhs to improve the facilities at the home. He presented a cheque of Rs. 1.5 lakhs to the forum president, Ch. Kusalava.

Medical camp

Members of Mother Teresa Seva Sangham conducted a medical camp and offered food to the poor at the old check-post in the city, on Sunday.

In a statement here on Sunday, the sangham members said the events were organised to mark the forthcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations. The president of the Mother Teresa Welfare Association, James, inaugurated the medical camp while its general secretary, Koteswara Rao, lighted the lamp.

Talent test

Viswabharathi Foundation will conduct a science talent test on February 13. In a statement here on Sunday, the foundation's area coordinating officer, P. Savithri, said students who wanted to participate in the State-level contest were expected to write their test from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, while for the national-level participants, the exam would be conducted from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Interested candidates should pay the admission fee by December 30. Recognition

for Principal

Sadaquat Ali Khan, Principal of M.S. College of Education, and Sri Kaza Venkateswara Rao Hindi Pracharak Training College, the Post-Graduate and Research Samsthan and the Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, Vijayawada, has been recognised as associate for the year-2002-2004 in humanities and social sciences by the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Rashtrapati Nivas, Shimla, an inter-university centre established by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Mr. Khan had represented Andhra Pradesh at the on-going programmes at the institute in Shimla.
