COIMBATORE, DEC.19. After deciding to involve them in solid waste management, the Coimbatore Corporation now wants to try out women self-help groups (SHGs) in assessment of drinking water charges. The new exercise will cover 92,000 water connections. Today, 40 applications were received from SHGs. Questionnaires asking for details such as educational qualification, bank balance of SHG members and how many water meters a day each member could cover were also distributed to them. Sources in the Corporation said that this did not signal the launch of the exercise.
