SRIKAKULAM, DEC.20. The Revenue Department would go hi-tech. The Minister for Revenue and Relief, Dharmana Prasada Rao, on Monday said as part of strengthening and modernising Revenue and Settlement departments an academy to train all personnel concerned would be set up at Hyderabad. It would be inaugurated by the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on December 30. It would be a permanent body meant to update the knowledge of the department from time to time, Mr. Prasada Rao added. Modern technology would be used at all levels, he said. Speaking to newsmen at his camp office here, Mr. Prasada Rao said the Andhra Pradesh Service Commission was requested to initiate steps for filling eight posts of Assistant Directors, 36 Deputy Inspectors and 439 Deputy Surveyors in the department.
He said that a Cabinet sub-committee was appointed to suggest measures for strengthening the department at the village level.
Title deeds
There are about three lakh farmers who had not been given title deeds for three lakh acres of land ceiling surplus lands because of non-payment of the stipulated amount. The Chief Minister, had agreed to write off this amount, clearing the way for issues of title deeds to all such farmers.
