One killed as van hits seven-seater autorickshaw

ANANTAPUR, DEC. 20. One person was killed and six others were injured when a seven-seater autorickshaw they were travelling in was hit by a van at Garladinne, in the district, on Monday. According to the police, the autorickshaw with five passengers and the driver came onto the NH-7 without caution and was hit by a van on the way to Anantapur.

All the six persons in the autorickshaw were injured. The van driver was also injured. One of the autorickshaw passengers, Narayana Reddy, (80), of Yerraguntla succumbed at the General Hospital here.

Fruit plants chopped

Unidentified persons chopped about 150 sweetlime plants belonging to T. Ramakrishnappa, at Mukundapuram village in Garladinne mandal on Sunday night. According to the police, the victim had no enmity in the village. He invested about Rs. 70,000 on sinking a tubewell and for laying a pipeline in his orchard.
