PONDICHERRY, DEC. 20. The Judicial Magistrate (I) of Pondicherry, Swarnam Natarajan, has sentenced J. Murugan, owner of an auto works unitat Sedarapet near here to undergo three months imprisonment for engaging S. Satheesh, a 12-year-old boy, in his unit in contravention of Section 3 of the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act 1986. The Labour Inspector, during an inspection of the unit in April 2002, found that the proprietor had employed the boy, following which a case was filed before the court, said a release.
