Preparations on for RJD rally
By Our Special Correspondent
PATNA,
DEC. 20.
Unfazed by the recent developments, the ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is going ahead with preparations for its mega rally on December 23, during which it will practically tee off its campaign for the Assembly elections.
Apart from political rivals, the RJD has come under fire from the Election Commission and the naxalites ahead of its public meeting here at the Gandhi Maidan.
While the EC today filed a First Information Report and issued notice to the party after its chief, Lalu Prasad, allegedly distributed money to partymen, naxalites blew up a railway track in Rohtas district, signalling their motive of disrupting the rally. Last month, the State Government had banned public meetings by frontal organisations of the naxalite groups.
Of greater concern to the RJD is the EC order to remove hoardings of all political parties from government buildings and public places. The Patna District Magistrate has warned of action if they failed to comply with the order. But the number of posters, hoardings and arches have only been increasing by the hour.
