Kollam
By Our Staff Reporter
KOLLAM, DEC. 20. The CPI(M) State secretary, Pinarayi Vijayan, will inaugurate the party's Kollam district conference that will begin here on January 4. Mr. Vijayan and a team from the party's central committee will camp in Kollam during the three days of the conference to monitor the proceedings. The other central committee members who will attend the conference include P.K. Gurudasan, M.A. Baby, the MPs, P. Karunakaran and A. Vijayaraghavan, and M.C. Josephine.
Rally
A rally will be organised on January 6 in which one lakh people are expected to participate. When it comes to group equations, it is the Pinarayi faction that has the advantage in the district. But the local and area committees meetings held as a prelude to the district conference did not witness any group wrangles as in some other districts. The delegates' sessions of the conference are expected to be well under control. The district committee will not be subjected to any major reshuffle. This means that the CPI(M) district secretary, K. Rajagopal, will be allowed to enjoy another term. It is likely that a couple of district committee members will be considered for being elevated to positions at the State level.
