KOCHI, DEC. 20. The Kerala State Chethu Thozhilali Federation and Kerala State Madya Vyavasaya Thozhilali Federation will jointly take out a march to the Secretariat on December 23, demanding reinstatement of all toddy shops that were closed down during 2003-2003. A joint session of the two organisations also demanded the Government to provide employment to all toddy-tappers and others in the industry who were on the payrolls till March 31, 2002. The other demands raised by the unions include exclusion of toddy shops from minimum distance limit, steps for curbing illicit brewing and sales, and construction of permanent buildings for toddy shops. The unions have also demanded that employees of arrack shops should not be appointed in toddy shops and no new foreign liquor shops and bars be opened, P. Raju, general secretary of the Madya Vyavasaya Thozhilali Federation, said.
