No more parole to ex-Congress leader: HC

By Our Legal Correspondent

HYDERABAD, DEC. 20. Andhra Pradesh High Court has taken serious note of the State Government granting parole to facilitate G. Venkata Reddy, former Congress leader of Kurnool district to stay out of jail continuously and directed the Government not to grant further parole.

These interim orders were passed by a bench comprising of Justice Bilal Nazki and Justice G. Yethirajulu in a petition filed by Raghurama Reddy.

The petitioner informed the court that Venkata Reddy was main accused in the murder of the former's father Tirupati Reddy, and trial was in progress before the Sessions Court.

He alleged that parole was facilitated by the fact that the jailed leader's wife was the sitting MLA and from the Congress party.

He was getting parole in the name of illness of his mother who had died several years ago. The bench ordered notices to the Principal Secretary, Home Department and the wife of Venkata Reddy.
