NELLORE, DEC. 21. P. Devadas, a well-known astronomer from Chennai, has said astronomy covers various facets of science, including biology. Delivering the XIth S. Ananda Ramamurthy Memorial annual lecture at the Department of Physics, V.R. College, Nellore, on Tuesday, Prof. Devadas, answered a number of questions from students, regarding the origin of the universe, craters on the moon and other topics. Earlier, the Correspondent and Secretary of the College, Anam Vivekananda Reddy, appealed for science fairs to be held at the college level and promised all support from the V.R. group of educational institutions. He said free boarding, coaching and hospitality would be given to students appearing for the forthcoming Intermediate advanced supplementary examinations. He called upon those interested to make use of the telescope available in the college. The year 2005 being `International Year of Physics,' arrangements are being made for the general public to view planets through the telescope. He presented a certificate and cash prize to Y. Sireesha, for securing highest aggregate marks in physics in the S.V. University examinations.
