Eranna back to old ways

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, DEC. 21. Masala Eranna is at it again. The former MLA who crossed over to the Congress from the Telugu Desam, now complains of police harassment and threatens to take poison if the Government does not come to his rescue.

He says he will continue to agitate against "the police insults and humiliations" heaped on him in Alur constituency of Kurnool district.

The former MLA caused a flutter yesterday by staging a dharna at the office of the Home Minister, K. Jana Reddy, at the Secretariat demanding a solution to his problems. He refused to budge till the Saifabad police took him away to NIMS. He even refused water till Tuesday morning causing anxiety to the Saifabad police but relented after persuasion by doctors.

Mr. Eranna demanded transfer of the SI and CI of Alur and the DSPs of Adoni, Nandyal and Allagadda, alleging that police were shadowing him wherever he went "at the instance of the Minister M. Mareppa." He later met the Home Minister who promised to take action on his demands.
