NEW DELHI, DEC. 21. The juvenile justice court hearing the video clip case today issued show-cause notices to the publisher, editor and the reporter of a national English daily published from Delhi, asking why action should not be taken against them for publishing the name of the student's school, thereby violating Section 21 of the Juvenile Justice Act. An application in this regard was moved by both the student and the school authorities. The school, in which the student used to study when he had allegedly filmed his intimate moments with a girl at his residence, moved an application in the court seeking action against the newspaper and two news channels for publishing and broadcasting its name, which was a violation of the Juvenile Justice Act. The clause prohibits publication of the name of a juvenile, his school or any other particulars leading to his identification. The school authorities produced the news article before the court, on the basis of which the court issued show-cause notices to the editor, the publisher and the reporter, asking them to appear by December 24. About the two news channels, the court said it would pass necessary directions as and when the evidence showing that they had broadcast the school's name was produced before it. The court also asked the Press Council of India to intervene and take measures to ensure that the name or any other particulars of the student, which might in any way reveal his identity, was not published. On Monday, the court had warned the media to report cautiously on the ongoing video clip case as it involved a juvenile.
