HYDERABAD, DEC.21. The Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) has asked officials to look into the proposal for construction of a flyover at Bahadurpura and expedite the planning work on the proposal for a road over bridge at Kandikal gate near Chandrayanagutta with the South Central Railway. The Committee, meeting after a gap more than three months due to the election code, had a heavy agenda. Most of the listed items costing Rs. 2.8 crores were approved while some of the proposals were put off with a request to officials concerned to come out with more details. Approvals for the reconstruction of Hussainsagar surplus weir and bridge with gates opposite Hotel Viceroy at a cost of Rs. 9.27 crores was held up, so was the permission for construction of a retaining wall at the Begumpet nala estimated to cost Rs. 5.85 crores. The Chairperson, Yasmeen Sultana, directed officials to submit detailed reports on these works and take approval in a special meeting.
Works approved
However, permissions was accorded for construction of retaining wall on right bank of Hussainsagar surplus nala at the State Bank of India colony in Gandhinagar at a cost of Rs. 48.85 lakhs, retaining wall and channelising for Balkapur nala at a cost of Rs. 35 lakhs, construction of bridge behind Hyderabad Public School in Begumpet up to Indira Gandhi Puram at a revised cost of Rs. 49 lakhs, construction of a cement concrete retaining wall on Murki nala at Rs. 49.80 lakhs and laying of cement roads from Babanagar to Balapur road in Kanchanbagh.
Report sought
The proposed five flyovers, development of municipal markets and norms for maintaining of parks by the residential welfare associations were also cleared. The Committee has sought records on erection of uni-poles by a private advertising agency on Government and private lands without taking the permission of the MCH.
