England defeated Australia by 38 runs on the fifth day of the second Test in Sydney on December 22. Australia, who needed 223 runs for a win, were all out for 184 in their second innings. A feature of the last day's play was the superb bowling of Tyson, who took six wickets for 85 runs, and the splendid batting of R.N. Harvey, who scored 92 n.o. The scores: England - 154 & 296; Australia - 228 & 184.
