Digvijay leads protest against demolition

By Our Staff Correspondent

BHOPAL, DEC. 22. The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Digvijay Singh, arrived at the Rajgarh district headquarters near here today and led a protest against "selective demolition" of the district Congress office by the local authorities three days ago. Along with the Congress office, two more structures belonging to the former district Congress president, Gulab Singh, and the local Seva Dal chief, B.L. Tomar, were also demolished during what was being described by the local authorities as an anti-encroachment drive.

Mr. Digvijay Singh, who at present is general secretary of the All-India Congress Committee, presented a memorandum to the District Collector protesting against the demolition of the Congress office with the help of dynamite.

He accused the local administration of vendetta and said if the demolition was part of an anti-encroachment drive why only the Congress office and structures belonging to Congressmen had been singled out for demolition.
