Letters to the Editor
Sir, It is unfortunate that a section of the media has been raising doubts about the Tamil Nadu police's statements on the arrest of Appu, one of the prime accused, in the Sankararaman murder case. The media have spared no opportunity to spread rumours: that Appu was taken into custody long ago, that the police were negotiating terms with him and so on. It is time the media stopped indulging in speculation, and gave the police the due respect for what they have done. Undoubtedly, Tamil Nadu is fast turning out to be a place where criminals can no longer have a free rein in spite of their strong political connections and influence.
S. Subahar,
