Schoolboy ordered released

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, DEC. 22. The juvenile justice court hearing the video clip case here today ordered the release of the schoolboy from the Prayas Observation Home on condition that he would not leave Delhi and cooperate with the police in the investigation.

Earlier today, the police opposed the application moved by the boy's counsel seeking his release. They said that if released, he might force the girl, with whom he allegedly shot the film on his Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone, to give a statement in his favour. Also, he might tamper with other crucial evidence as he had already destroyed the mobile and its chip.

Terming the incident as a "misadventure", the court ordered the boy's release and directed him to take counselling for a month in the presence of his parents and submit to it a weekly report.

The court also directed the student to surrender his passport and not leave Delhi without its prior permission. His parents were directed to furnish a personal bond of Rs. 25,000 with a surety for a like amount.

The police today are said to have questioned another student on suspicion that he had forwarded the video clip to some friends. Investigations showed that the video clip was circulated among students but the police are finding it difficult to establish the chain.
