BANGALORE, DEC. 22. The MPs of the Bharatiya Janata Party from Karnataka today staged a demonstration in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue near Parliament House in New Delhi and demanded the immediate intervention of the Union Government in the Bagalkot resettlement issue. The MPs, led by the party's General Secretary, H.N. Ananth Kumar, said the Rs. 638-crore rehabilitation package must be immediately implemented. The MPs also wanted action initiated against the police guilty of atrocities on those who were staging a peaceful dharna in Bagalkot. They alleged that false cases had been foisted against the Bagalkot MLA, Veeranna Charantimath, and the president of Bagalkot district unit of the party, Narayansa Bhandge. Basavanagouda Patil Yatnal, Ramesh Jigajinagi, P.C. Gaddi Gowdar, Karunakara Reddy, S. Mallikarjunaiah, Suresh Angadi, Manorama Madhwaraj, C.H. Vijay Shankar, H.T. Sangliana, G.M. Siddesh and Manjuanth Kunnur participated.
