ALAPPUZHA, DEC. 22. The State Government will implement computerised inventory system in all Government hospitals in the State the next year, the Minister for Health, K.K. Ramachandran, has said. Inaugurating the modernised payward and mortuary-cum-post mortem complex of the Mavelikkara taluk hospital, Mr. Ramachandran said the computerised inventory system would streamline distribution of medicines in the Government hospitals in the State. The complex was built with the local area development fund of Mavelikkara MLA, M. Murali.
Inpatients in PHCs
The Minister said the 202 primary health centres (PHCs) in the State would take inpatients from next year. The State Government would provide necessary facilities in the PHCs in the State for the purpose, he said. Mr. Ramachandran said the Government would create 1,200 new posts as a part of the move. The Minister said all vacancies in the Health Department would be filled up in the coming months.
Telemedicine facilities
The Minister said telemedicine facilities would be implemented in all Government hospitals in the States in phases. The facility would be available at the medical college hospitals in the State in the first phase, he said. In the second phase, the facility would be implemented in taluk hospitals.
Tranparency
The Minister said a transparent appointment and transfer policy would be implemented in the Health Department to make the functioning of the government hospitals more efficient. Mr. Murali presided over the function. The Health Director, Mahilamani, delivered the keynote address. The DMO, N.K. Velayudhan, spoke.
