Official held on graft charge

HYDERABAD, DEC. 22. The in-charge Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO) of K.V.B. Puram in Chittoor district, P.B. Nagabhushanam, was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Tuesday on the charge of accepting Rs. 1,000 bribe from a village `sarpanch'. He tested positive during a chemical test, according to a press release. He was being produced before the Special Judge for ACB Cases, Nellore.

Sentenced

A former Divisional Accounts Officer of Thungabhadra project (Adoni division) in Kurnool district, B. Subba Rao, was sentenced to undergo one-year rigorous imprisonment and pay Rs. 1,000 fine, as he was found guilty in a corruption case. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials trapped Rao when he accepted Rs. 500 bribe from a complainant on March 22, 1995, while working at Adoni, a press release said.
